[
BIOGRAPHY: FlapJack ]
FlapJack is undoubtedly one of the most appreciated and
successful rock- bands in Poland. Originally it was to be just a jamming
project of some friends: Lica (Robert Friedrich) and Guzik (Grzegorz Guzinski)
playing in Acid Drinkers a famous metal band in Poland. Also Jahnz, Hrup-
Luck, Vimek and Guzik played with them. However, soon it became clear that
it's not only playing for fun anymore. The idea of setting up FlapJack
arised in November 1993 FlapJack decided to release a record. ‘Ruthless
Kick’ was announced as the best debut in 1994, that was not a big surprise
in Poland, taking into account their musicianship and experience or cooperation
with one of the best Polish producers ‘ Adam Toczo’. The record presented
40 minutes of Joyful, aggressive music accepted greatly, both by critics
and fans. The beginning of 1995 offered the next record by FlapJack, titled
‘Fairplay’. The enthusiastic, powerful music was the illustration of the
positive vibrations. The cover and the content were connected with football
and the notion of 'fairplay' itself. The album contains 14 tracks
including two soccer- songs: ‘Brasil’ and Soccer Kids from Africa’. The
cd ‘Fairplay’ spent many weeks at number one in the album charts in Poland.
In the meantime, FlapJack played with the big stars in the Hard core metal
scene. They supported: Biohazard, Pro-Pain and Life Of Agony. No wonder
that fans were anxiously awaiting the next record of FlapJack. ‘Juicy Planet
Earth’ had it's premiere in March 1997 and it is said that it is their
best record so far. ‘Juicy Planet Earth’ is full of emotion, intensive,
even reflexive. Despite the fact, that music was recorded separately, it
is extremely compact. The record is a determinant of heavy/rock preferences
of guitarist Lica (Acid Drinkers) as opposite to the hip-hop-rap and hard
core interests of the vocalist Guzik. ‘Juicy Planet Earth’ is much more
experimental than both other records: ‘Ruthless Kick’ and ‘Fairplay’. This
time the musicians worked individually at their homes, so they could put
all their emotions into the music. ‘Juicy Planet Earth’ is one off the
best polish rock albums of 1997- maintain music journalists. FlapJack played
a very good concert with one of the most famous rock bands nowadays: Faith
No More in ‘Spodek’- a big concert hall in Katowice (Poland).
It was one of the best concerts they ever did and a big
experience for them.
